To clean jewelry use a glass pan of hot water, sudsy with dawn. Add 1/4 cup of clear ammonia.
Drop jewelry in and brush a few times with a soft brush. Rinse well, in clean hot running water. Shake and repeat if needed.
You should store your sterling silver jewelry in a plastic air tight zip lock bag to keep the air from tarnishing your jewelry.
